> Orphan sponsorship
The definition of an orphan in Islam is a child who has lost his/her father, the breadwinner of the family, while in the western sense, an orphan is a child who has lost both parents. The current estimated number of children who have lost both parents is approximately 153 million around the world (UNICEF).
An orphaned child without guardians to love and protect them from the dangers of the world is a child that is more vulnerable to the effects of poverty, exploitation, abuse, violence, malnutrition and injustice - more so than any other group.
Read Foundation is dedicated in reaching as many of these children as possible so that they are not forced into child labour, to beg or other situations that could risk their lives. We provide them with accommodation, food, education, and any other support they may require, to give them a better chance in life.
When we facilitate access to an education, we open the door to a better future for children. With an education they will be more capable in finding employment which may lead them to a more successful life out of poverty. No child deserves to sleep on the streets, no child deserves to go hungry, no child deserves the lack of love and affection, let’s make them our priority.
Together with our family of generous donors, Read Foundation currently cares for more than 11000 orphans.
When you sponsor and care for an orphan through Read Foundation, we ensure that they not only receive a quality education - the tool that will help lift them out of poverty - but also, access to life’s most basic necessities. We make it a priority to ensure long-term access to a better quality of life is provided through your sponsorship of a vulnerable, orphaned child in need.
