Empower Through Education in Lebanon

Over a decade into the Syrian crisis, Lebanon now hosts the largest population of refugee children. Educating these children is one of the most significant and overlooked challenges to date. Regrettably, statistics reveal that over half of the refugee children in Lebanon, aged 3 to 18 years, are not attending school, and some have never had the chance to attend at all. Faced with logistical obstacles in constructing solid school structures and geographical challenges associated with the camps, READ Foundation devised an innovative solution.

School in a Bus: Mobile Classrooms for Refugee Children

For children born into the uncertainty of refugee camps, education is often a distant dream.

Our bus, outfitted as a mobile classroom, travels between refugee camps in Beqaa, Lebanon, providing up to 300 children aged 6-14 years with a basic education each month. Children who were once growing up without access to structured learning now have the opportunity to receive a quality education and psychosocial support in a safe and nurturing environment.

Special Needs Education Hub: Tailored Support for Every Child

Children with special needs face even greater hurdles in accessing education, especially in the challenging conditions of refugee camps. Our Special Needs Education Hub is dedicated to creating a secure environment for children to gain knowledge, skills, and confidence. We work with a team of specialists and certified teachers of special needs, so our intervention provides these children with a tailored education. Our goal is to nurture their self-esteem, enabling them to grow into empowered individuals within their communities.
