Our WASH projects

READ Foundation believes that quality education includes a healthy and clean environment for children to thrive in. Poor sanitation within schools, where young children spend long periods of time, can result in severe illness and disease. There have been reports of high levels of illnesses involving diarrhoea in many developing countries. Poor hygiene limits education, and the opportunity we want to give these children.
Poor sanitation and unhygienic behaviour are disastrous for infants and young children.

We counter this problem by providing the following:

  • Safe latrines
  • Access to safe and clean drinking water
  • Education on good hygiene through awareness sessions

Our programmes, implemented across Yemen, Syria, Pakistan and Bangladesh, include WASH as an essential part of the educational projects. Furthermore, the projects guarantee that all male and female sanitation facilities are in line with CHS which take into account child protection.

The projects go further in restoring a child’s dignity, allowing them to gain the very best out of their education.
