Children with disabilities often face unique and compounding barriers when it comes to accessing education during times of crisis.
For 10-year-old Yazan, his hearing impairment caused him to be the victim of bullying by other children. He became ashamed of his hearing aid, lowering his confidence.
READ Foundations Psychosocial Support Sessions have given Yazan a place to shine and be himself, quickly becoming a star in the group activities. His sense of hope has been re-ignited as he begins to draw his dreams rather than his fears.
“My hearing aid is now my friend,” Yazan says. “I feel it is a part of my story, not a shame.”
