School on a Boat

Rina, a 12-year-old from Algahati village, had no way to follow her dreams because there was no school near her village.

Her father sells vegetables, and her mother is a housewife. There were no means for Rina to reach school.

Then her mother heard about READ Foundation’s School on a Boat in Nayahati. She spoke with the teacher, and Rina enrolled in Class 1. Today, she studies in Class 3.

The floating classroom brought back Rina’s love for learning. Students sing, play games, and study together in a jubilant atmosphere that makes her want to come back each day.

Rina aspires to be a doctor. The project gives her free education and school supplies, lifting the financial burden from her family.

She now shares what she learns with her siblings and neighbours.

For a girl who once had no access to education, Rina sees a future where she can build something better for herself and her family.
