Strengthening Access to Education and Wellbeing

Reem and Heba often went to school hungry. Most mornings, there was no breakfast. When they returned home, there was often no food there either.

“It was hard to focus,” says 14-year-old Reem.

Their mother, Nadia, raises five children alone in Taiz. After her husband died, securing their next meal became a constant worry.

Reem excels in the Quran and Sciences and dreams of becoming a doctor. Heba, 12, shines in Islamic Studies and wants to be an architect. But hunger has made it hard to focus on anything else.

Each month now, they receive a basket with flour, rice, oil, and other essentials through READ’s “Strengthening Access to Education and Wellbeing” project.

“This assistance means we have a sufficient stock of food for a whole month,” Heba says.

The sisters attend school regularly now, and Nadia no longer spends all her energy worrying about food.

“The project helped my daughters enhance their school attendance and has reduced their distraction in classes,” Nadia says.

Your donations fuel those ambitions.
