Drop-in Centre
Barnali’s father couldn’t afford to support the family, so her parents sent her to live with her grandmother in Dhaka. To help her, Barnali sold flowers on the street and did all the housework at home.
One day, when she returned from work with her grandmother, Barnali met a teacher from READ Foundation’s Drop-in Centre. As soon as the teacher explained what the Centre offered, Barnali took this opportunity to build a future she dreams of.
At the Centre, she receives nutritious meals, quality education, access to a savings scheme, and life skills lessons. This support opened up possibilities she hadn’t imagined before.
Barnali dreams of becoming a doctor. She sees her time at the Centre as the first step toward achieving this goal. The centre is guiding her, as she says, “down the right path” to a “beautiful life.”
For children like Barnali, a safe environment with the right support can turn survival into hope for the future.
