At READ Foundation, we uphold every person’s right to education, especially during crises such as conflict, natural disasters, or health emergencies, when access to education can be lifesaving and life-sustaining. That’s why we’re working hard to bring educational access to children in Lebanon, Gaza and Yemen.
In Lebanon, the recent conflict has led to the displacement of millions of people while disrupting the education of 500,000 children. Even before the conflict began, 57% of Syrian refugee children living in Lebanon were out of school, whilst only 64,000 children had access to Non-Formal Education (NFE).
In Gaza, the blockade has restricted the flow of humanitarian aid, exacerbating the scarcity of food, medicine, and other essential supplies. The ongoing military operation has denied Palestinian children their right to education in the most extreme ways, severely impacting their hopes and opportunities for the future.
In Yemen, the humanitarian crisis ranks as one of the worst in the world, characterised by conflict, climate change, economic collapse and the breakdown of public institutions. Overcrowded classrooms, a lack of teaching and learning materials, and attacks on educational institutions weaken learning quality.
We ensure children living in crises have access to education and a way to break free from the traumas they experience.
Our programmes provide physical, psychosocial and cognitive protection for children and young people and meet the immediate need for food, water, hygiene and healthcare. In Lebanon, our School in a Bus brings education and psychosocial support to refugee and displaced children. Our buses also distribute hygiene kits, food, and non-food items to those in need. In Gaza, we’re providing lifesaving emergency relief to displaced children and their families. This includes hot meals, food baskets, medical and hygiene supplies and a mobile medical clinic. In Yemen, we’re rehabilitating damaged schools and installing proper WASH and hygiene facilities, improving access to learning. Our Breakfast Club provides nutritious meals to improve concentration, attention, and attendance.

Without education, children in crisis face shattered futures— your support rebuilds hope.
Education is a lifeline for vulnerable children in regions torn by conflict and disaster. Without it, they risk falling into cycles of poverty, exploitation, and despair. Education provides more than just knowledge; it offers safety, stability, and a chance for a brighter future. It equips children with essential life skills, protects them from various forms of abuse, and nurtures their resilience in the face of adversity. Your support is crucial in providing these children with access to learning, nutritious meals, and psychosocial care.
